This theme park invites you to explore the ancient culture of Hungary – with focus on the age of the hungarian conquest.

The park consists of 5 distinct areas: Rotunda, Monastery, Skansen, Nomadic Park and Csete-yurts. Beside these, numerous memorials and statues are to be found in the heritage park, such as Árpád’s famous well or the historical statue park.

The Árpád Memorial was erected in 1896 to commemorate the thousandth anniversary of the Hungarian Conquest. This was the start of the vicissitudinous but also beautiful history of the park, through which, time by time, more and more memorials and buildings were built in the park area. Just to mention an example: the Skansen, which illustrates the peasant culture from the greater area of Szeged. The major attraction, Árpád Feszty’s monumental panorama painting titled Arrival of the Hungarians, is also displayed in Ópusztaszer. The famous Feszty-panorama can be viewed from the middle platform of the rounded Rotunda. The work depicts the arrival of the Hungarians into the Carpathian Basin in six scenes placed beside each other and around the circle. A faux terrain leads up to the circular painting to complete the visual effect. Guide is available in several languages upon request.
